Trường CĐ Kinh tế Công nghiệp Hà Nội đón giáo viên tiếng Anh quốc tế năm học 2025-2026

Under the framework of the Cooperation Agreement between the Government of Vietnam and the Government of Australia on the Volunteer Program, at the beginning of the 2025–2026 academic year, Hanoi College of Industrial Economics was honored to welcome Ms. Veronica Janet Lesley Lawson – an English teacher – to teach at the college.

During her time working at Hanoi College of Industrial Economics, directly with the Foreign Language Section under the Faculty of Basic Sciences, her work was carried out in two phases:

Phase 1: From July 2025 to September 2025, Ms. Lawson provided online English instruction for the faculty members and English teachers of the department.

Phase 2: From September 2025 to December 2025, she conducted in-person English classes for first-year students of the 2025 cohort at the college’s two campuses. Her teaching primarily focused on enhancing listening and speaking skills for both students and teachers.

Throughout her time teaching and working at the college, both faculty members and students expressed deep admiration and respect for her – a dedicated educator and an inspiring teacher filled with positivity and enthusiasm.

Ms. Lawson consistently demonstrated a modern, learner-centered teaching approach. She showed genuine closeness to her students and a thorough understanding of their needs and aspirations, always placing learners at the heart of every lesson. In each class, she was friendly, enthusiastic, and attentive to every student, helping them improve their listening and speaking abilities—from pronunciation, intonation, and stress to sentence rhythm and word emphasis.

For shy or reserved students, she was always gentle and encouraging, guiding them to express their thoughts confidently. This created excitement and engagement, making the classroom lively and energetic whenever she was present. Her expressive speaking style and body language captivated learners. With clear pronunciation, expressive eyes, and a warm smile, she gained the special affection of all her students.

One particularly remarkable aspect of her teaching was her deep understanding of Vietnamese culture. She often integrated cultural connections between Vietnam and Australia into her lessons, helping students gain not only linguistic knowledge but also cross-cultural understanding of both countries.

Furthermore, Ms. Lawson’s teaching reflected professionalism and thoughtfulness. Whenever students lost focus or became distracted, she gently approached them and posed thought-provoking questions to draw their attention back to the lesson.

Thanks to her enthusiasm, dedication, and professionalism, the quality of English teaching at the college improved significantly. Based on final exam results, students’ listening and speaking scores increased remarkably compared to previous years; they became better listeners and more accurate speakers.

For the faculty members, after two months of working and learning with her, their pronunciation, speaking, and listening skills also improved substantially. They learned from her not only professional expertise and modern teaching methodologies, but also a disciplined and professional working style, a simple and friendly lifestyle, and—above all—a noble character marked by compassion and humanity, dedicated to community development and the progress of society.

As the volunteer program comes to an end, all the teachers and students of the Faculty of Fundamental Sciences, as well as the entire college, sincerely hope to welcome more volunteers in the future to continue improving educational quality. It is hoped that the volunteer program will expand further, not only in English but also in other fields, so that Hanoi College of Industrial Economics as well as other educational institutions may have the opportunity to receive volunteers. This will contribute to making English a second language, as proposed by the Ministry of Education and Training, and further promote Vietnam’s education system toward deeper and more effective international integration.
